New promise
We apologize for the long gap between the posts. The Rotaract Club of Hyderabad East is back with it's blog.
In the time lapse between the posts, we have recruited new members, carried off yet another successful year with Aurum- our annual car treasure hunt, featured in the press, received aamazing responses for our clothes and book donation drive, and for our project with a blind school. We also worked really hard and pulled off Oorja- the 41st District Conference, where various Rotaract clubs spoke about their projects, their future ideas, their relations with one another and with their parent Rotarty club.
And time flew by. We are now looking towards our third recruitment, on August 8th, 2010. The new board is in place, being guided by the old ones who will step down in the second week of August. While we will continue to keep our old promises, we make one more- to regularly update this blog.:-).
Watch this space for more.

Polio NID -1st of Feb
On the 1st of February, The Rotaract Club of Hyderabad East Volunteered at two booths for its first time ever.We took on the booths at Musheerabad and Domalguda.Since it was going to be stretched out over the entire day, we divided ourselves into two shifts at each booth. We had atleast five members present at each shift and helped in immunising over 450 children.
Apart from these two booths, we also headed out to smaller booths nearby which were short of volunteers, and rendered our services there to provide relief to the nurses. We had a lot of fun, especially at the Domalguda booth. There was tiffin centre nearby so we never got hungry!
Attached here is a picture of ours with the 300th child! We were so happy that we gave him a cap and a whistle and posed with him for quite a few photographs [ we could clearly see him frowning after three had been taken so we stopped :D ] Overall it was a tiring, but hightly fulfilling project.Maybe we can take up three booths next time !

Osmania Hospital Visit
The Treasure HUnt, which was all set for the 10th of August got washed out because of a cyclonic depression. The food order however could not be cancelled at such short notice so we had to pay the Bakery for the food. We approached them on the evening of the 9th, which meant that the raw material was all ordered but the sandwiches had not been made yet. On explaining the situation to him, the owner said we could just pay for the bread and then do whatever we wanted with it.
So we did just that !! On the 10th of August, The Rotaract Club of Hyderabad East stood literally all morning on necklace road near people's plaza to tell participants that the treasure hunt had been called off. Once we finished that horribly humiliating task ( Thanks to the weather ... ) ,we went to the bakery and picked up the 40 king sized loaves of bread.
We then went to Osmania Hospital and approached the administrative branch who directed us towards the burns ward.It was a heart wrenching experience as we went from ward to ward, giving out bread to the patients and their families. It was really one experience that we will not forget for a very long time.Just looking at the patients sent shivers up our spines, it is futile to try to imagine the pain they must have been in.We are just glad that we could do something, even if it was something so small , to ease their pain for a short span of time.

June 2008 Report
Amidst all the planning for the upcoming Treasure Hunt , We decided to do an impromtpu project. All of us opened our cupboards ( and our mom's, and dad's .... ) and pulled out all the clothes we thought we had outgrown or we would not wear any more. We made sure the clothes were in good condition though ! :D
Totally we collected about five sack-fulls of clothes and set out for an old age home near Bible house in Secunderabad, on the 15th of this month. The time we chose to go there did not really allow us to interact with the inmates, but we spoke to a few people and gave them the clothes to distribute among those who could put them to use.
